Roofer dies after fall
A Wray Roofing employee who
fell from the roof of Bank of the West building at 100 W. 12th in Newton Aug.
20 died Friday morning at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Since the accident,
Steve Storm, 43, had been in a coma, said Kevin Wray, president of the
Newton-based company. He was taken off life support and died around 12:40 a.m.
Friday. Storm fell 14 feet and sustained multiple back and head injuries as
well as a collapsed lung. Storm, a Newton resident, had been employed by Wray
Roofing for two years.
Wray said family of the
victim is mainly from El Dorado.
"We at Wray Roofing felt
like Steve was also part of our family," he said. "We've lost a great
guy, everyone liked, in this tragic accident. Our prayers go out to his family.
It is a difficult time for everyone involved."
This is the first lose of
life accident for the company in 30 years, Wray said.
He didn't know when the
funeral service would take place, but said it would probably be in El Dorado.
