Elmer A. Weyand
Elmer A. Weyand, 74, died
Monday (Sept. 3, 2007) at his residence in Newton. He was born on April 2,
1933, in Galva to Herbert and Bertha (Ollek) Weyand. He took great pride of his
service to his country in the Army during the Korean conflict. On June 13,
1953, he married Erletta R. Willems in Rose Pine, La. He was a very good
mechanic and worked for Boeing in Wichita. In later years he worked for Axtell
Hospital as a maintenance technician. He loved people and had many, many friends.
He loved the special times with his children and grandchildren while
entertaining them with his never ending smile. The weiner roast and campside
fried potatoes were always a special treat. He was a true patriot and took
pride in flying the American flag and keeping his lawn well manicured. The love
of working with his hands was obvious as he restored antique tractors, trucks
and cars and enjoyed displaying them in local car shows and driving them in
parades throughout the area.
He was fond of attending his
grandchildren's sporting events and was also a KU basketball fan. He and his
wife Erletta enjoyed getting together frequently with friends for lunch at the
local Burger King. He and his unrelenting positive outlook on life will be
missed by his wife, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other
family, friends and neighbors.
Survivors include his wife;
daughters, Marilyn Lubbers of Leavenworth, Gerry and Vernon Epp of Newton, and
Shirley and John Esau of Walton; a brother, Gerald Weyand of Norton; sisters,
Lenora Martens of McPherson and Lorene Holloway of McPherson; seven
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by
his parents and a brother, Howard Weyand.
Visitation will be from 9
a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton with family
present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Service will be at 10 a.m.
Saturday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dean VonStroh
officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Garden of Memories in Newton.

American Diabetes Association or City of Newton EMS in care of the funeral
home.
