LaVella M. "Mickey"
Warkentine, 74, died Saturday (Sept. 8, 2007) at Asbury Park Healthcare in
Newton. She was born on March 21, 1933, in Allen, Okla., to Floyd and Opal
(Brinkley) Tracey. On Oct. 7, 1951, she married Jack Warkentine in Fairveiw,
Okla. He preceded her in death. She enjoyed tennis and bowling. She was an
Oklahoma State tennis champion. She also enjoyed playing bingo with her
friends. She greatly enjoyed following her grandkids' achievements and spending
time with her loving family and many friends. She especially enjoyed baking
homemade chocolate creme pies for her family.
Survivors include sons, Jack
and Patty Warkentine of Newton and Bob and Anne Warkentine of Salina; a
daughter, Linda and Monty Frey of Newton; six grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
her parents.
Visitation will be from 3 to
9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton with family present from
6:30 to 8 p.m.
Service will be at 10 a.m.
Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrel Proffit officiating. A
graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in
Wellington.
