Rachel Penner
Obituary
Rachel J. Penner, 94, died Thursday
(Nov. 29, 2018) at Regent Park Rehabilitation, Wichita. She was born
Aug. 1, 1924, in Newton, the daughter of Ben and Millie Broscha
Regier. She married Paul H. Penner on Sept. 25, 1949, in Hesston. He
died Jan. 11, 1983. A graduate of Hesston College and Bible School,
she had been a resident of Hesston most of her life.
She was a member of First United
Methodist Church, Newton, where she belonged to Rachel's Circle. She
was a 70-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Newton,
Chapter No. 5. She worked for the city of Hesston for 17 years as the
Utility Billing Clerk.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra
(Bill) Fox of Wichita; a son, Steven (Barbara) Penner of Columbia
Falls, Montana; two granddaughters, Tracy (Ian Miller) Penner and
Sara Penner; two great-grandchildren, Rylan and Harper Miller; two
step-grandchildren, Sharon (Russ) Betzen of Wichita and Caroline
(Ben) Smith of Herington; three step-great-grandchildren, Greg
Betzen, Carisa Smith and Braden Smith; and five
step-great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her
parents; her husband; a sister, Leah Welsh; a step-grandson, Dan Fox;
and three brothers-in-law, Charlie Grimm, Dale Trahern and Lee Welsh.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30
pm Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2018) at Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Hesston. Burial
will follow at the Hesston City Cemetery.

the Hesston Senior Center or the First United Methodist Church,
Newton, both in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Hesston.
