John J. Schill
John J. Schill, 80, died
Saturday (Sept. 15, 2007) at Galachia Heart Hospital in Wichita. He was born on
March 13, 1927, in Newton to Margaret (Clelland) and Charles F. Schill. He
joined the U.S. Navy and served time during World War II. He married Dorothy
Weesner on April 25, 1947, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton. She
preceded him in death on April 10, 1999. He was an honorary member of the
Knights of Columbus, lifetime member of the VFW Post 971, a member of the the
American Legion Post 112 and a faithful member of the Newton Public Golf
Course. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.
Survivors include sons, Danny
and Linda Schill of Paola and Pat Schill of Newton; daughters, Susie and Mike
Dorr of Council Grove, Yvonne and Joe Roland of Cedar Point, Judy and Dave Karr
of Wichita and Mary Schill of Newton; a brother, Bill Schill of Newton; grandchildren,
Brett, and Brandon Dorr, Joe, Chris and Sam Schill, Dustin Kessler, Audrey
Kuhn, Jerrod Holland, and Jacob and Amy Kerr; and great-grandchildren, Tyler,
Jacob, Kylie, Lauren and Blake Dorr, Ben Schill, Parker, Priya and Pierce Kuhn.
He was preceded in death by
his parents; brothers, Leo, Paul, Alvin, Dick and Raymond Schill; and sisters,
Ethel, Viola and Dorothy Schill.
Rosary was Tuesday at St.
Mary's Catholic Church in Newton.
The service was Wednesday at
St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial was at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in
Newton.
Memorials may be made to St.
Mary's Catholic Church, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or
Hospice of Kansas in care of the funeral home.
