J. Stanley Regier
J. Stanley Regier, 86, of
North Newton, died Tuesday (Sept. 18, 2007) at Newton Medical Center in Newton.
He was born on Jan. 25, 1921, in Bluffton, Ohio, to the Rev. J.M. and Elizabeth
Marie (Lohrenz) Regier. On Sept. 2, 1950, he married Lois Eichelberger in
Wichita. She survives at home. He served his country during World War II in
Civilian Public Service. He was a long time member of the Lorraine Avenue
Mennonite Church in Wichita, where he served on the board of trustees and was current
member of Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton. He attended Bethel
College and graduated from The University of Kansas with a degree in
architecture. He retired from the architectural firm of Regier and Kraybill in
Wichita as an architect. He was a member of the Newton, North Newton Historic
Preservation Commission and the Sand Creek Trail Committee. He also was a
volunteer with Red Cross for nearly 20 years. He greatly looked forward to
spending time with his friends and loving family.
Survivors include his wife;
daughters, Cathy and John Irwin of Carlisle, Pa., and Rebecca Osterman of
Union, N.J.; a sister, Winifred Granville of Salem, Ore.; a grandson, Joe Irwin
of Carlise, Pa.; and a granddaughter, Kate Irwin of Reading, Pa.
He was preceded in death by
his parents and a brother, Robert B. Regier.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton with family present from 6:30
to 8 p.m.
Service will be at 11 a.m.
Saturday at Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton with Pastor Heidi
Regier Kreider of the church officiating. A graveside service will be at 9:30
a.m. Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Memorials may be made to Sand
Creek Memorial Grove Endowment Fund in care of Bethel College in North Newton.
