Eugene T. Stephan
Eugene T. Stephan, 85, died
Saturday (Sept. 22, 2007) at Kidron Bethel Health Care in North Newton. He was
born on Jan. 23, 1922, in Nortonville to Thomas Andrew and Helen (Woolworth)
Stephan. On Nov. 17, 1945, he married Jacqueline Beauquesne in Germany. She
preceded him in death on Aug. 21, 2003. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church
in Newton. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He
received degrees in education from St. Benedicts, The University of Kansas and Emporia State University. He was a
retired classroom teacher, principal and superintendent of schools. He retired
from Yates Center school district in 1987. He and his wife moved to Newton in
1988. He enjoyed doing genealogy research and reading. He greatly looked
forward to spending time with his friends and loving family.
Survivors included sons,
Daniel and Pamela Stephan of Kaiser, Mo., Dennis and Judy Stephan of Valley
Center, Maurice and Debra Stephan of Moundridge, and Lauren and Leslie Stephan
of Mount Hope; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death
by his parents and a granddaughter, Whitney Lyn Stephan.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton with family present from 7 to 9
p.m.
Service will be at 11 a.m.
Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Newton. Mausoleum entombment will be at 1:30
p.m. Tuesday at Lakeview Gardens in Wichita.
