Thorolf E. 'Gene' Hagen
SEDGWICK - Thorolf E.
"Gene" Hagen, 87, died Monday (Sept. 24, 2007) at Sedgwick Healthcare
Center in Sedgwick. He was born on Aug. 15, 1920, in Oslo, Norway to Axel and
Guldborg Hagen. On Dec. 10, 1990, he married Georgia Prince in Newton. She
preceded him in death on April 11, 2006. He served his country during World War
II. He was a charter member of the Plattekill First Aid Unit, past cheif and
life member of the Plattekill New York Fire Department. He moved to Kansas in
1981 from Plattekill, N.Y. He served on the Sedgwick volunteer fire department.
Survivors include a son,
Richard and Greta Hagen of Sedgwick; daughters Ethel and Elmer Holbert of and
Susan and Joe Romano, all of Plattekill, N.Y.; a grandson, Eirik and Terri
Holbert of Satellite Beach, Fla.; granddaughters, Mary Beth and George
Henderson of Plattekill, N.Y., Jenny and Will Suhr of Sedgwick and Emily
Griffin of Sedgwick; grandsons, Jeff Hoppenstedt and John Thorolf Hoppenstedt,
both of Plattekill, N.Y.; a sister, Evelyn and Ray Piccolini of N.J.; brothers,
Peter and Elaine Hagen and Paul Hagen, both of Malboro, N.J.; six
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by
his parents; brothers, William Hagen and Guy Erlensen; a sister, Gladys Gorney;
and twin daughters, Margo and Mary Hagen.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton with family present from
5:30 to 7 p.m.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m.
Friday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton with the Rev. Kim Beckwith
officiating. A graveside committal with military honors will be at 12:30 p.m.
Friday at the Belle Plaine Cemetery in Belle Plain.
