Obituary

Marion Harper, 84, died at his home on Monday (Dec. 10, 2018) in Newton.

Marion was born on July 31, 1934, in Newton to Everett and Pearl (Brooks) Harper.

Marion married Sue Leffingwell on Dec. 27, 1957, in Newton. They were married for 61 years prior to his death.

Marion was very mechanical and enjoyed working with tools. He could "rig up" about anything and make it work. He was an amateur radio operator and enjoyed using Morse code. Marion was retired from Kansas Gas and Electric Company, which he served for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; beloved best friend, Cedar; children, Kristy and Jeff Nattier and Kelli and Brian Schulte; and grandchildren: Sarah and Dustin (Kari) Nattier, and Garrett, Mallory, Brianna and Jesse Schulte.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kurt Harper; parents, Everett and Pearl Harper; and sister, Janet Lingnau.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 13, 2018) at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel. Following the service, a private family burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Marion will be carried to his final resting place in his 1950 Dodge Power Wagon. There will not be a public visitation.

The family requests that jeans and flannel shirts be worn at the service.
