Homer Gattis
Obituary
It is with great sadness that the
family of Homer Lee Gattis announces his passing on Thursday (Dec.
13, 2018) at the age of 71 years after battling Central Nervous
System Lymphoma.
Homer was born Nov. 16, 1947, in
Sherman, Texas, to Mary Hollingsworth Gattis and Thomas C. Gattis of
Pottsboro, Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1971 and
began his 45-year career at Excel Industries in 1972.
Homer was a member of Hesston Mennonite
Church. He enjoyed gardening, hiking and spending time with his
family and grandchildren.
Homer is survived by his wife of 48
years, Jan (Tapp); and his three children, Stephanie (Matt) Smucker,
Stacie (Chris) Dundon and Brad (Carmen) Gattis. Homer will be fondly
remembered by his five grandchildren: Madison, Cohen and Brynn
Smucker, and Rylee and Avery Dundon. He is lovingly remembered by
seven brothers and sisters; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended
family and dear friends.
A celebration of Homer's life will be
held at 4 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 20, 2018) at Hesston Mennonite Church,
309 S. Main, Hesston, with Pastor Robert Yutzy officiating.
