JoAnn Jolliff
Obituary
JoAnn Jolliff went to be with her Lord
on Sunday (Dec. 16, 2018). She was surrounded by her loving family.
JoAnn was born in Wichita to Lloyd and
Lenora (Mead) Cochenour. JoAnn's mother, Lenora, died when she and
her brother Larry were young. Lloyd married again to Lois Reid, who
raised her. Two more siblings were born into family, John and Robert.
JoAnn lived with her family in Wichita, Chicago, Bonner Springs and
Phillipsburg, where she graduated from high school.
JoAnn moved back to Wichita in 1955 to
attend nursing school at St. Francis Hospital. While at nursing
school, she met Keith Jolliff. They were married on April 9, 1956.
JoAnn and Keith moved to Newton in 1958 and, with JoAnn's help, Keith
established a Meadow Gold Milk route.
JoAnn worked at Axtell Clinic and in
billing at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. In the early 1970s, JoAnn went
to work at Southwestern Bell as an operator in Newton. She later
transferred to Bell Telephone in Wichita as a manager. After retiring
from SW Bell, she went to work part-time for Anesthesia Billing in
Newton until 2013.
The love of her life, Keith, preceded
her in death in January 2014.
JoAnn is survived by three sons, Jay,
Bruce (Lori) and Rusty (Lisa); two brothers, John (Donnice) and
Robert (Gail); four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of JoAnn's life will be
will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 20, 2018) at Salem United
Methodist Church in Newton. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m.
Wednesday (Dec. 19, 2018) at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. The
family will greet guests from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials have been established with
Salem United Methodist Church and Good Shepherd Hospice in care of
Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
