Obituary

Janet M. Lingnau, 86, died, Tuesday (Nov. 13, 2018) at Presbyterian Manor, Newton.

She was born Aug. 8, 1932, in Sedgwick to Everett Benjamin and Evelyn Pearl (Brooks) Harper.

She was a 1950 graduate of Sedgwick High School and a 1954 graduate of Friends University.

She taught third grade at R.L. Wright Elementary in Sedgwick for 26 years.

She was a member of Whitewater Federated Church, Hicks-Davison American Legion Post 268 Auxiliary and the 40 & 8.

On Jan. 29, 1956, she married James M. Lingnau in Sedgwick. He survives.

Other survivors include her son, Tracy (Laurie) Lingnau of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter, Debra Burgess (Randy Hager) of Geneseo; brother, Marion (Sue) Harper of Newton; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lynne Dee Lingnau; and a granddaughter, Miranda Jean Burgess.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 18, 2018) at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead. Graveside service and inurnment will be 10:30 a.m. Monday (Nov. 19, 2018) at Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick. Chaplain Greg Schmidt will officiate.

Memorials may be given to Heart & Soul Hospice or Hicks-Davison American Legion Post 268 Auxiliary in care of Kaufman Funeral Home.
