Katherine LaCoss, 84, died on Monday (Nov. 19, 2018) at the Newton Medical Center in Newton.

Katherine was born on March 24, 1934, in Henderson, Tennessee, to Clyde and Jinnie (Britt) Cagle.

Katherine married Charles W. LaCoss on July 23, 1952, in Tunica, Mississippi. They were married for 59 years prior to his passing on Feb. 2, 2012.

Katherine was an easy-going person who loved being around people. She enjoyed country music and old western movies. She loved her family and enjoyed serving food at family dinners. Katherine was a retired USD 373 Dietary Service employee.

She is survived by her children: Brenda and Rollin Schmidt, Linda and Frank Stevens and Mark and Sheila LaCoss; siblings, Laverne Connors, Ralph Cagle and Dale Piper; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Jinnie Cagle; grandson, Jonathan Kasper; and four siblings.

A Graveside Committal Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 24, 2018) at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. A public visitation is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday (Nov. 23, 2018) at Petersen Funeral Home; the family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
