Obituary

Donna Lou (Klassen) Bogner, 67, of Winfield, lost her four-year battle with cancer on Thursday (Nov. 22, 2018) at William Newton Hospital.

Born Nov. 11, 1951, in Newton, she was the daughter of Herschel and Mildred Klassen. She was raised in a rural area near Potwin. Donna received her earliest education at a small, rural grade school named Countryside. She attended and graduated from Frederic Remington High School in 1970. Donna completed prep studies at Butler County Community College in El Dorado and then attended and graduated from Wesley Medical Center School of Nursing in Wichita in 1973. This education set her off into her life career as a Registered Nurse, beginning at Wesley Medical Center.

She was united in marriage to Mark "Andy" Bogner on July 28, 1974, at Emmaus Mennonite Church in Whitewater. Donna continued her career as a Registered Nurse for over 39 years, retiring from William Newton Hospital in 2011.

She had a knack for making lifelong friends; Donna, Rebecca McNish and Marlene Mayfield, or "the three amigos" as they were affectionately known, traded the same gift on each other's birthdays for over 20 years. Donna and Connie Schaefer were like sisters and loved spending time with one another. Another passion of Donna's was animals. She enjoyed caring for dogs, cats, horses and cows.

Her family includes her husband, Mark "Andy" Bogner of Winfield; sister, Janice Kindt and husband, Charles, of Winfield; brother, Tom Klassen and wife, Elaine, of Aurora, Colorado; sister-in-law, Mary Klassen of Crestview, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by a brother, Sherman Klassen.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 27, 2018) at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Private family inurnment will take place at Rose Valley Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established in Donna's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
