Dorothy M. Ediger
HALSTEAD - Dorothy M. Ediger,
86, of Halstead, died Friday (Aug. 24, 2007) at Halstead Health and
Rehabilitation. She had been a resident of Halstead since 1976 and also had
resided in Moundridge. She was born Feb. 7, 1921, in Newton to Henry and
Margaret (Friesen) Lohrentz. Both are deceased. On May 19, 1939, she married
Marvin H. Ediger in Inman. He died on May 10, 1996. She was a homemaker and
clerk at Irene's Jewelry in Halstead.
She was a member of Order of
the Eastern Star chapter 5 in Newton, past worthy matron; Hofnansau in Inman;
First United Methodist Church in Halstead; Mary Circle, UMW; Halstead Hospital
Auxiliary; and Buhler Camping Club. She also was a Red Cross Blood Mobile
volunteer.
Survivors include sons,
LaVerne of Halstead and Arthur D. of Burrton; daughter, Donna V. Nightingale of
Halstead; sisters, Nora Jane Schmidt of Inman; sister-in-law, Rosa Mae
Haugsness of Buhler; brother-in-law, Milford Ediger of Newton; eight
grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in
death by a brother, Quinton Lohrentz; sister, Irma Alden, Ruth Froese and
Luella Mueller; and daughter-in-law, Carol Ediger.
Visitation will be from 3 to
8 p.m. Sunday at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead with family greeting friends
from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
A graveside service will be
at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Buhler Municipal Cemetery in Buhler. Memorial service
will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Halstead First United Methodist Church with the Rev.
Jennifer Whitt officiating.
