Sam Schmidt
GOESSEL - Sam Schmidt, 94,
died Friday (July 6, 2007) at his residence in Goessel. He was born on Aug. 12,
1912, in Marion County to J.R.F. and Elizabeth (Franz) Schmidt. He was a dairy
and crop farmer. On Oct. 26, 1940, he married Dora Schroeder in Goessel. He was
a member of Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church. He work for Hesston Corp for 11
years and enjoyed socializing at the Goessel Senior Center (AGAPE). Survivors
include his wife; a son, Larry W. and Diane Schmidt of Shawnee; daughters,
Shirley A. and Conrad B. Szabo of New Britian, Conn., and Karen J. and Roy W.
Monroe of Emporia; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two
step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and one
step-great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by
brothers, Dan, Menno and Jake; sisters, Frieda Schmidt, Tina Janzen, Marie
Pankratz, Martha Buller and Louis Krehbiel.
Visitation will be from 4 to
8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home in Goessel with family present from 6 to
8 p.m.
Service will be at 11 a.m.
Wednesday at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel with Pastor Linda Ewert
and Pastor Lee Suderman officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at
Alexanderwohl Mennonite Cemetery in Goessel.

AGAPE Senior Center and Bethesda Home in care of the funeral home.
