Donald L. Slack
Donald L. Slack, 82, died
Thursday (July 19, 2007) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton. He was born on
Jan. 13, 1925, in Dawson County, Neb., to Charles W. and Laura Esther (Read) Slack.
He was raised in Kearney, Neb. and graduated from Kearney High School. He moved
to Wichita and was working at Boeing when he met Helen M. Davis. The couple
married on Jan. 17, 1946, at the First Christian Church in Newton. They lived
in South Dakota and Nebraska before returning to Newton in 1962. He was a
service man for Ablah Hotel Supply in Wichita, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed
fishing.
He is survived by his wife;
Helen M. (Davis) Slack of Newton.
He was preceded in death by
his parents; brothers, Riley "Butch," Roy, Ray and Earl; and sisters,
Nancy, Frances and Mae.
A graveside service will be
at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton with Chaplain Peter Hartman
officiating.
