Carl J. Mull
PRATT -- Carl J. Mull, 91, lifetime
farmer, died Wednesday (Jan. 23, 2002) at Friendship Manor in Pratt.
He was born Nov. 5, 1910, to August Gottlieb and Anna (Herrdum) Mull
in Elbing. They preceded him in death. He moved with his parents to
Highland Township at the age of 6, north of Newton. He attended grade
school in District 76. Later he farmed with his father and cared for
his parents with the help of his sister. He continued to farm the
land until 1980 when he retired and moved to Newton.
He devoted much of his life to the
community and his church. He was a member of First United Church of
Christ in Newton where he had been a longtime usher. He was always
ready to serve in any capacity. His favorite pastime was bowling and
he traveled to Germany to trace his roots. He moved to Pratt in
August 2001 to be close to his sister and her family.
Survivors include: a brother; George
Mull of Newton; two sisters, Anna Kasitz of Escondido, Calif., and
Kathryn Buchmueller of Pratt; and many nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by: a
brother, August Mull; and a sister, Elinor Ronish.
Visitation will be from 9 a. m. to 9 p.
m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 10 a. m.
Saturday at First United Church of Christ in Newton with the Rev.
Loren W. Hickerson officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with
First United Church of Christ in care of the funeral home.
