Obituary
Donna Maye Friesen, 87, passed away on
Tuesday (Jan. 29, 2019) at Newton Presbyterian Manor.
Donna was born on Nov. 21, 1931, in
Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Edward and Vera Metz (Nellans).
Donna married Virgil Friesen on June
19, 1949. They were married for 56 years prior to his death on Sept.
9, 2005.
Donna was a very gregarious person. She
would visit with anyone and never met a stranger. She had a passion
for doing crafts, art, gardening, working with flowers, was an avid
reader and enjoyed music and singing. Donna cherished her time with
her family and was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother. She loved animals, especially her dogs.
She is survived by her children, Debbie
and Rich Didier, Robin and Randy Metzler, and Craig and Rosie
Friesen; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Virgil Friesen; sister, Patricia Nelson; and parents, Edward
Metz and Vera Metz Nellans.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for
10:30 a.m. Monday (Feb. 4, 2019) at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in
Newton. A private family inurnment will occur at a later date.
A memorial has been established with
