Bill K. Wilson
BURRTON - Wilson, Bill K. 58, managing
editor of the Wichita Business Journal, died Wednesday, January 9,
2019 at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center, Wichita. He was born
June 5, 1960 to Carl M. and Gladys V. (Robb) Wilson at Newton and was
a lifelong resident of Burrton. He was a member of Burrton Christian
Church. He attended Burrton Schools and was a 1982 graduate of Bethel
College. He was very active with the Burrton Recreation Department.
He spent many summer evenings attending, coaching or umpiring
baseball games in and around the Burrton area. He was considered a
baseball savant by many, he loved the St. Louis Cardinals and was the
unofficial historian for the Liberal BeeJays. He was also a
passionate fan of the O.U. Sooners. Bill had a 35 year career as a
respected journalist in the Wichita-area, he held various positions
with the Newton Kansan, Hutchinson News, Wichita Eagle and most
recently the Wichita Business Journal as managing editor. Bill is
survived by aunts: Marilyn George and Janice Baker, both of Wichita;
family friends: Jim and Linda Redinger, Rodney and Molly Redinger,
Faith and Scott Martin and David and Kacy Redinger all of Burrton. A
memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 17, at Burrton
Christian Church, with Rev. Kim Andrews officiating. Inurnment will
follow at Burrton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Burrton
Recreation or the Liberal BeeJays in care of Kaufman Funeral Home.
