Douglas Murphy
HAVEN – Douglas E. Murphy, 80, passed
away March 1, 2017, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was
born Aug. 5, 1936, in LeRoy, KS, the son of George W. and Dorothy
Moore Murphy. He was a graduate of LeRoy High School, received a BA
in Business Administration and his Masters in Elementary Education
Administration from Emporia State University. Postgraduate work at
University of Kansas, Wichita State University and Arizona State
University. He taught school at Burlington and Haven. He served as
Elementary School Principal at Haven, Hutchinson and his last 15
years at Union Valley Grade School. He was a member of the Hutchinson
Area Retired School Personnel Association, Haven United Methodist
Church, Haven Ambulance Board, Haven Senior Citizen Center Board and
Friends of the Library. On Aug. 3, 1957, he married Kay L. Robuck at
Halstead.
Survivors include: wife, Kay of Haven;
daughter, Michelle (Dr. Steve) of Wichita; grandson, Stewart of
Wichita; brother, Dennis (Catherine) Murphy of Strong City;
sister-in-law, Zee Murphy of Burlington; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Marilyn Dale; and
brother, Gary Murphy.
Celebration of Life will be held at
Haven United Methodist Church, Haven, Sunday, March 5, 2017, at 2
p.m. Memorials may be made to Haven United Methodist Church or Haven
Senior Citizens Center in care of Ott Funeral Home, Haven.
