Martha Jo Clark
Martha Jo Clark, 80, died Wednesday
(May 22, 2002) at Via-Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita.
She was born Jan. 21, 1922, to John W. and Dora Nelle (Johnson)
Coventon Sr. in Muskogee, Okla. They preceded her in death. She
married Wayne A. Clark May 23, 1944, in Wagoner, Okla. He preceded
her in death in 1995. She graduated from Wagoner High School and from
Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla. She lived with her
husband in Cambridge from 1942 to 1953 when they moved to Rosalia.
They lived in Rosalia until 1963 and then moved to Leon where they
made their home until 1967. In 1967 they returned to Rosalia and
lived there until Wayne's death. She then moved to Newton in 1996.
She was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught school
from 1962 to 1985. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church
in Newton, the Retired Teachers Association. United Methodist Women
and the National Educator's Association.
Survivors include: her children,
Frances Clark, David and Trudy Clark and Lynn and Tyra Clark, all of
Newton, Kenneth and Cathy Clark of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Nancy
Clark of Dumfries, Va.; two brothers, John W Coventon Jr. of
Muskogee, Okla., and James E Coventon of Houston; and her
grandchildren, Jill and Matt Tresaugue of Corona, Calif., Allison
Clark of Chandler, Ariz., Justin and Laura Writer of Coffeyville, and
Annessa Clark and Adam Clark, both of Newton.
Family will greet friends from 5 to 7
p. m. today at Salem United Methodist Church in Newton.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m.
Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Blankenship Cemetery
in Rosalia.
