OBITUARY: JOHN WAYNE ADAMS
John Wayne Adams, 72, passed away Feb.
3, 2019, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born Sept.14, 1946, in Newton to
Bud and Virginia Adams. He was a graduate of Frederick Remington High
School.
He married Donice F. Gale on May 24,
1969; to this union, they had four children. They later divorced.
Then on Nov. 21, 1987, he married Mary K. Carothers, and they were
together until her passing in 2006.
He served in the Army during Vietnam.
After he returned home, he worked in the aircraft industry until he
retired Oct. 31, 2010. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. in
Newton and McPherson, and was a member of many different veterans and
camping groups during the years. He loved to go camping and fishing
with his family. He collected Eagles and Tony Stewart stuff. You knew
to not call him during his NASCAR race to talk.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, a brother Jerry Adams and both Donice and Mary.
He is survived by his daughters Angela
Hobbs (Paul Klien) of Lakemills, Wis., Gale Spragg (Brian
Chamberlain) of Newton, Windy Adams of Mount Valley and Judi Snow of
Newton; sons Allen Wayne Adams of Newton and Frank “Tony” Smith
(Debbie) of Andover; one brother James Adams of Newton; 12
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews;
and his dear friend Carl McGlocklin of Midwest City, Okla.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10
a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton with
burial of the ashes following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital or
Harry Hynes Hospice.
