Mary K. Adams
Mary K. Adams, 59, died Sunday (Jan.
15, 2006) at her residence in Newton. She was born Jan. 23, 1946, to
John Raymond and Bernadie Marie (Dean) Carothers in Newton. They
preceded her in death. She married John W. Adams Nov. 21, 1987, in
Newton. He survives of the home. She was a member of St. Mary's
Catholic Church in Newton. She was a member of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, both of Newton and Minneapolis, the
Lions Club in Delphos, Jaycees Club in Salina,
Nomads Camping Club in Newton and the
Wichita Area Vietnam Veterans. Mary served on boards and
organizations throughout the years. She enjoyed collecting unicorns,
No. 88 NASCAR memorabilia, camping, ceramics and quilting. Mary
greatly loved her family and looked forward to spending time with
them. She also was very involved in organizations helping veteran
POW-MIA.
Other survivors include: sons, Max and
Eva Scheffler of Salina and Frank "Tony" and Linda Smith,
and Allen Adams, all of Newton; daughters, Gale Spragg and Judi Snow,
both of Newton, Angie Hobbs of Lake Mills, Wis., and Windy and Dennis
Blaylock of Independence; several cousins, nieces and nephews; dear
friends, Glenda and Rick Lathrup of Enterprise, Stephanie Miller of
Newton and Anton Hopkins of Manhattan; 15 grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a
brother, Bobby Jo Carothers.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9
p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home.
Recitation of the rosary will be 6 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home with family greeting friends following
the rosary from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the chapel.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m.
Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Mainzer
officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with
the Kansas Dialysis Association and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice,
both in care of the funeral home.
