Arlene M. Smith

HALSTEAD - Arlene M. Smith, 77, seamstress, died Friday (March 31, 2006) at Newton Medical Center. She was born Dec. 23, 1928 at Sedgwick to Virgil Ray and Helen (Trego) Wilson. Both are deceased. She married Eldon H. Smith June 19, 1951 at Bentley. He survives. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Bentley and loved gardening, birds and nature. She was a personal seamstress and dressmaker for many, She is also survived by two sisters. Marjorie Will of Halstead and Shirley Sheffler of Sedgwick.

There will be a private graveside service with the Rev. Paul Wulff officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead, with the family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Bentley.

Memorials have been established with Pleasant Valley Church and Caring Hands Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
