Sara F. Classen
HESSTON - Sara F. Classen,
83, homemaker, died Sunday (April 2, 2006) at her residence in Hesston. She was
born March 29, 1923, to John J. and Mary J. (Friesen) Reimer in Meade. She
married Edwin Classen July 30, 1944, in Meade. He survives of Hesston. She was
a member of Koerner Heights Church of the Mennonite Brethren in Newton. She
served as a volunteer for 30 years with different organizations: Victory in the
Valley, the Et Cetera Shop and Union Rescue Mission in Wichita.
Other survivors include: a
son, Dale and Anita Classen of Salem, Ore.; daughters, Regina Yoder of Newton
and Marjorie and Lyle Sommerfeld of Sharon Springs; sisters, Mary Isaac,
Elizabeth Isaac, Katherine Friesen and Eva Rempel; eight grandchildren; and
nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by:
a brother, John F. Reimer; and sisters, Agnes Classen and Anna Classen-Jantz.
Funeral service will be 2
p.m. Thursday at the Schowalter Villa Chapel in Hesston.
There will be a private family
committal service.
Memorials have been
established with Victory in the Valley and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, both
in care of the funeral home, 107 S. Lancaster Ave., Hesston, KS 67062.
