HORTON - Robert Carol
McAllaster, 74, of Horton died Friday (April 7, 2006) at his home in rural
Horton. He was born Nov. 15, 1931, in Geneseo, the son of Guy Carey and Altha
Margaret Brayton McAllaster. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1951 and
from Wichita Venus Academy in 1954. He married Sue Carolyn Henry Aug. 22, 1954,
in Sterling. She survives of the home. He was a former Newton resident and
owner of Robert Carroll's Hairdressing. He served during the Korean conflict in
the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion and VFW and a former
member of the Kansas State Cosmetology Association, Kansas Hair Fashion
Committee and the Newton Elks Lodge.
Other survivors include two
daughters, Teresa and John Hammersmith and Brenda and Walter Honea, all of
Horton; a son, Robert C. McAllaster II of Wichita; a brother, Daniel and Faye
McAllaster of Beaverton, Ore.; sister, Annie and Dick Wyatt of Dodge City;
three sisters-in-law, Doris McAllaster of Omaha, Neb., Donna McAllaster Profitt
of Alden and Helen Henry of Sterling; one brother-in-law, Art and Lucy Henry of
Hutchinson; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at
9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Horton. Military
graveside rites and burial will follow at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Sterling
Community Cemetery.
Family will greet friends
from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton.
