Catherine Jones
Catherine Jones, 86, died
Monday (April 24, 2006) at Presbyterian Manor in Newton. She was born April 28,
1919, to Elmer and Joshephine (Labounty) Lengel in Burdet. They preceded her in
death. She married James M. Jones March 5, 1939, in Newton. He preceded her in
death Oct. 3, 2000. She was a housewife, enjoying memberships with First Presbyterian
Church in Newton, ladies church circles and the 20th Century Club. Catherine
and her husband Jim were very active and enjoyed ballroom dancing together,
traveling to many states for dances.
Survivors include: a son,
Gary Jones of Newton; brothers, Dwain Lengel of Santa Anna, Calif., and Ralph
Lengel of Derby; a grandson, Mark Jones of Kansas City; a granddaughter, Carrie
Uecker of Olathe; and great-grandchildren, Brooks, Katherine and Gabrielle
Uecker of Olathe.
She also was preceded in
death by a daughter-in-law, Connie Jones.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. today with family greeting friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at Broadway Colonial
Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 2
p.m. Thursday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim
Anderson officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood
Cemetery.
Memorials have been
established with Hospice Care of Kansas in care of the funeral home.
