Alta F. Belillo
HESSTON - Alta Faye Belillo,
83, died Tuesday (April 25, 2006) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston. She was born
Nov. 14, 1922, to Ora and Lavona (Jones) Sturm in Atlanta. In August 1941, she
married Vince Belillo in San Francisco. He died in July 1982. She worked in
various hospitals and hotels in the housekeeping area for 53 years, retiring in
September 1994. She was very particular about her business. She enjoyed
traveling, with her favorite place being Reno, Nev. She loved doing embroidery
work, knitting, baking, cooking and country music. Her favorite composers were
Martina McBride and Vince Gil, whom she saw in concert. She also enjoyed
reading, especially romance novels.
Survivors include a son,
Dennis Belillo of Marinez, Calif.; a sister, Doris Stevenson of Newton; a
daughter-in-law Maria Belillo of Washington; nieces, Deann Titus and husband
Will of Newton, Sharon Godfrey of Raytown, Mo., and Leota Fay Evans of Raytown;
nephews, Mike Thomas and wife Leta of Halstead, Gary Thomas and wife Pam of
Tulsa and Max Thomas of Tennessee; and cousins, Elener Krepps of Winfield and
Bud Daggett of Independence, Mary Manning of Topeka.
She also was preceded in
death by a sister, Edna Casebolt; her parents; and a brother, Lee Sturm.
The funeral service will be
at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Schowalter Villa, with the Rev. Doug Ingmire from
Newton Christian Church officiating.
Memorials have been
established with Schowalter Villa and Hospice Care of Kansas, in care of
Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
