Wilbert J. Kaufman
Wilbert J. Kaufman, 94, died
Wednesday (May 3, 2006) at Asbury Park Healthcare in Newton.
He was born Nov. 4, 1911, to
John J. and Anna (Ratzlaff) Kaufman in Murdock. They preceded him in death. He
married Opal Albrecht Nov. 25, 1943, in Kingman. She preceded him in death Aug.
23, 2003.
Wilbert was a watchmaker and
ran his own jewelry store. He also ran a sign shop. He enjoyed fishing and
garage sales. Wilbert was very proud of the two working model steam tractors he
built to scale. He was know as a Jack-of-all-trades and could fix anything. He
greatly enjoyed the company of and spending time with family.
Survivors include: sons, Don
and Betty Kaufman of Topeka and Roy and Deanna Kaufman of Wichita; daughters,
Pearlene and Jack Morrison of Dixon, Mo., Janice and Charles Brady of Valley
Center and Melody Woolley of Valley Center; brothers, Marvin J. Kaufman of
Newton and Edward J. Kaufman; sisters, Elda Kaufman and Marie Kaufman, both of
Newton; and 14 grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death
by: brothers, Edward J. Kaufman and Jake Kaufman; and sisters, Hulda Schrag,
Martha Kaufman and Bertha Kaufman.
Funeral service was earlier
today at Petersen Funeral Home. Pastor Mike Leichtner of The Ark Church in
Maize officiated.
Burial was in Memorial Park
Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Memorials have been established
with Gideon's International in care of the funeral home.
