Imogene Bueker
Imogene Bueker, 74, died
Friday (May 12, 2006) at Via Christi-St. Francis Regional Medical Center in
Wichita.
She was born May 9, 1932, to
Delmar J. and Elsie (Gibson) Sloan in Jet, Okla. They preceded her in death.
She married James F. Bueker Oct. 16, 1954, in Newton. He survives of the home.
Education was important to
Imogene. She loved English and speech especially. She proudly attended Phillips
University in Enid, Okla. Imogene served as a PTA president at her children's
school, and also as a Cub Scout den mother. She enjoyed shopping, traveling and
her numerous collections, such as angels, salt and pepper shakers, and many
letter openers.
She was a member of First
Christian Church in Newton, serving as a deaconess and a vacation Bible school
teacher.
She will be remembered as an
encouraging person to her children, their families and her grandchildren.
Other survivors include: a
son, Terry Bueker of Overland Park; a daughter, the Rev. Carolyn and husband
Kenneth Schwarz of Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, Jan Bueker of Topeka; a
grandson, Dustin Schwarz of Lexington, Ky.; a granddaughter, Marlene B.
(Schwarz) Jones of Waldorf, Md.; a brother, Herbert W. Sloan of Estes Park, Colo.;
a sister, Patricia A. (Sloan) Osborne of Commerce City, Colo.; and two
great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. today with family greeting friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at Broadway Colonial
Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 2
p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Gary Bell officiating.
Burial will be in Restlawn
Gardens of Memories in Newton.
Memorials have been
established with First Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
