Alta Cation
Alta (Pope) Cation, 91, a
long time resident of Newton, died Thursday (May 18, 2006) at Brooking Park
Senior Living Community in Chesterfield, Mo.
She was born Sept. 17, 1914,
to Ada (Martin) Pope and Fred Pope in Washita County, Okla., near Cordel. She
married Lyle Cation on November 17, 1934, who preceded her in death in 2004.
Through 1930 to 1960 they lived in Oklahoma City, Ventura, Calif., and Allen
County.
Alta was an active member of
the First Church of Nazarene in Newton for 45 years and a 1934 graduate of
Hills Business University in Oklahoma City. She was a devoted wife, mother,
grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Survivors include: her son,
Kenneth L. (Jean) Cation of Wildwood, Mo.; grandsons, Michael (Monica) Cation
of Austin, Texas, and Jason (Cindy) Pauff of Gahanna, Ohio; two granddaughters,
Jan (Mike) Reed of Menlo Park, Calif., and Jill (Dave) Uland of Granville,
Ohio; and eight great grandchildren. Other survivors include: two nieces, Betty
(Dave) Morrison and Judy K. (Barry) King; and a sister-in-law, Julia Cation,
all of Bakersfield, Calif.; and nephew, Bill (Charlotte) Brooks of Oklahoma
City.
A sister, Naomi Lee Cation,
also preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 9
a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at
Petersen Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 10
a.m. Saturday at the First Church of Nazarene with Pastor Rick Dages
officiating.
Graveside service will be 3
p.m. Saturday in Leanna Cemetery in Neosho County.
