Adina Unger Meek
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Adina Unger
Meek died Wednesday (May 25, 2006) in Columbia, Mo.
She was born Nov. 21, 1908,
to Andrew Voth and Sara Schroeder Voth on a farm near Canton. She was the 11th
child of a family of 12.
She married Daniel G. Unger
in 1927. Five children were born to this union. The family moved to Newton in
1936. He preceded her in death in 1951.
In 1955, she married John W.
Meek. He preceded her in death in 1981.
She was a member of First
United Presbyterian Church in Newton. In 1998, Mrs. Meek moved to Columbia,
Mo., to be near her son, Ken Unger.
In addition to being a great
homemaker, she was employed 23 years at the Herald Book Store in Newton. She
also volunteered at the Et Cetera Shop and at Bethel Hospital, both in Newton.
Survivors include: children,
Clifford V. Unger of Corpus Christie, Texas, Daniel V. Unger of Jacksonville,
Fla., Joetta L. "Jodi" Flohrschutz of Pueblo West, Colo., Emerson V.
Unger of Friendswood, Texas, and Kenneth V. Unger of Columbia; a stepson, John
W. Meek of Plano, Texas; and 15 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by:
her parents; 11 brothers and sisters; and two stepchildren.
Graveside service will be
2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery. Burial will be next to her first
husband, Dan Unger.
