Glendora B. Carpenter
Glendora B. Carpenter, 80,
died Friday (June 9, 2006) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton. She was born
Aug. 22, 1925, to David and Neota (Darrow) Voth in Hickcock, Okla. They
preceded her in death. She married Walter Eugene Carpenter on July 30, 1948. He
preceded her in death Dec. 10, 1976. She enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles and
needlepoint. Glendora also greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and
camping. Survivors include: sons, Wayne Carpenter, Jerry Carpenter and Donald
Carpenter, all of Newton; daughters, Loretta Sue Carpenter of McPherson, Glenda
Lynn Carpenter of El Dorado, and Geraldine and Steve Barden of Newton;
grandsons, Joshua Barden, Joey Barden, Tony Ray and Josh Carpenter; and
sisters, Evelyn Ottner of Hutchinson and Lee Withrow of Daytona Beach, Fla.
She also was preceded in
death by a grandson, Matthew Barden.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. today with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Petersen
Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be 10
a.m. Tuesday at Fairlawn Burial Park with Pastor Peter Ostrader of Liberty
Baptist Church in Newton officiating.
Memorials have been
established with Hospice Care of Kansas in care of the funeral home.
