Edna Jantz
Edna Jantz, 81, died Thursday
(June 29, 2006) at Bethesda Home in Goessel. She was born April 18, 1925, in
Hillsboro to Peter H. and Martha Schmidt. She graduated from Goessel High
School and attended Bethel College in North Newton. A resident of Canton and
later Lehigh, she was a homemaker and avid vegetable gardener. She was a
lifelong member of Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel and a former
member of the Lehigh Senior Center. On Sept. 8, 1991, she married Edward Jantz
in Lehigh. He survives.
Other survivors include Wenda
Black and husband Bill of Sedgwick; Barton Nickel and wife Mary of Canton;
Nelson Nickel and wife Lola of Canton; Miretta Friesen and husband Jim of
Canton; and Ruth Crawford and husband Tom of Weatherford, Texas; 12
grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Goossen and wife
Elaine of Hesston; Eldon L.R. Schmidt and wife Deloris of Canton; and a sister,
Rosella Goering and husband Arthur of Newton. She is also survived by Edward's
daughter, Saundra Quiring and family.
The funeral will be at 10
a.m. Saturday at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church with Pastor Lee Suderman
presiding. Internment will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to
8 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home in Goessel, with family receiving friends
from 6 to 7 p.m.
