June L. Lyne
ABILENE - June L. Lyne, 88,
former Abilene resident, died Saturday (July 15, 2006) at Kidron Bethel Village
in North Newton. She was born June 1, 1918, in Manchester, the daughter of
Frank L. and Mayme E. (Rice) Beech. She grew up in the community of her birth,
and attended the local schools and Solomon High School. In 1936, she married
Kenneth L. Lyne in Lyons. They lived in Longford and Clay Center prior to
moving to Abilene in 1953. She had been a resident of the Kidron Bethel Village
since 2003. She was a homemaker. Kenneth Lyne preceded her in death Oct. 22,
1996.
Survivors include: two sons,
Dennis Lyne of Chandler, Ariz., and Larry Lyne of Abilene; three daughters,
Karen Hartman of Topeka, Janice Gordon of Salina and Cheryl Bergman of Newton;
one sister, Jean Appleman; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; seven
great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
Besides her husband, Kenneth,
she was preceded in death by: her parents; a daughter, Betty Allen in 1994; two
granddaughters, Laura Gordon in 1970 and Tami Bergman in 2003; and a grandson,
Larry Lyne Jr. in 1991; and a great-grandson, Gregory Gfeller in 1984. She also
was preceded in death by: a brother, Lyle Beech; and three sisters, Leta
Barkley, Lorna Lowman and Kathryn Allen.
Funeral services will be at
10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene with Pastor
Stan Norman officiating.
Burial will be in Abilene
Cemetery.
Memorials have been
established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita in care of the funeral
home.
