Lawrence Walter McGaugh Jr.,
65, died July 26, 2006, following a brief illness He was born Oct. 11, 1940, to
Lawrence W. and Jewel Vivian Taylor-McGaugh. He had resided in Berkeley,
Calif., since 1961. A graduate of Newton High School in 1958, he attended
Bethel College for two years. He served in the U.S. Navy from July 26, 1961,
through July 23, 1965. In June 1971, he received his bachelor's of fine arts
degree from San Francisco Art Institute and obtained his lifetime teaching
credential in 1974. He was employed by the Berkeley School District until his
retirement in 2002. In addition to his secular employment, he was an artist and
a prolific writer of poems and short stories.
Survivors include: daughters,
Jhana McGaugh of Oakland, Calif., and Genesse McGaugh of Berkeley; a
granddaughter, Yasmina Serville of Oakland, Calif.; a sisters, Bonita K. Horn
of Camarillo, Calif., Sheila Edwards of Gardner, Mass., and Cheryl Waqiah of
Kansas City, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews, family and friends.
His parents preceded him in
death.

12:30 p.m. at the Self-Realiziation Fellowship, Richmond Temple, 6401 Bernhard
Ave., Richmond, CA 04805.
