Cleobelle "Cleo"
Budd, 89, a resident of Kansas Christian Home in Newton, died Tuesday (Aug. 1,
2006).
She was born Sept. 7, 1916,
to Robert L. and Ethel A. (Harshman) Seaton near Abilene. She grew up in the
rural area near Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School in 1934. She
attended Emporia State Teachers College for two years. In the late 1930s and early
1940s, she taught school in Morganville, Ashland and Solomon.
On May 23, 1943, she married
Quinton M. Budd in Lawton, Okla. They lived in Arkansas City from 1948 until
moving to Parsons. She served as a librarian at Arkansas City Library from 1969
to 1979. They moved to Parsons to be near their daughter, the late Mary
Callstrom and her children, prior to the daughter's death on July 1, 1986. They
then raised the grandchildren. Mr. Budd preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1997.
Mrs. Budd was a member of
First Christian Church in Newton and previously had been an active member of
First Christian Church in Parsons and the Central Christian Church in Arkansas
City.
Survivors include: two
grandchildren, Jenny (Callstrom) Garcia of Leavenworth and Chris Callstrom of
Liberty, Mo.; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Vaughn Seaton of Ames,
Iowa.
She was preceded in death by:
her husband; her daughter; and two brothers and a sister.
The family will greet friends
from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons.
Funeral service will be 10:30
a.m. Saturday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery Patio with the Rev. Mark Young
officiating.
Burial will follow in the
family lot at Memorial Lawn.

established with the Mary Callstrom Scholarship Fund at First Christian Church
in Parsons in care of the funeral home, Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
