Richard E. 'Dick' Hershberger
EL DORADO - Richard E.
"Dick" Hershberger, 83, of El Dorado, died Tuesday (Aug. 15, 2006) at
Lakepoint Nursing Center in El Dorado. He was born June 1, 1923, in Zimmerdale
to J. Allen and Anna (Humholdz) Hershberger. On Aug. 15, 1948, he married
Virginia Fundenberger. On May 29, 1979, he married Margaret Stringer Harris in
Wichita. She preceded him in death on Sept. 12, 2000. He attended Newton High
School and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for many years at Beech Aircraft
and moved to El Dorado from Mapleton in May 2003. He was a member of the
Methodist faith and a member of the Aircraft Union.
Survivors include: sons,
James Hershberger of Salana, Alaska, and Chuck Hershberger and Ronald
Hershberger, both of Newton; a daughter, Jane Seeney of Hesston; three
stepdaughters, Judith Brooks of El Dorado, Janice Luginbill of Bella Vista,
Ark., and Linda Jacobs of El Dorado; sisters, Virginia Davison of Sedgwick and
Alma Ewert of Newton; brothers, Carl Hershberger of Lindsborg, Kenneth
Hershberger of Sedgwick and Joe Hershberger of Hesston; 24 grandchildren; and
several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by:
his parents; and two sisters.
A graveside service was held
earlier today at Towanda Cemetery.
Memorials have been
established with Hospice Care of Kansas in care of Carlson Funeral Home in El
Dorado.
