Eugene 'Gene' Laverne Schuetz

Eugene "Gene" Laverne Schuetz, 77, died May 24, 2006, at the hospital following an accident at his home. He was born Aug. 30, 1928, in Wichita and lived most of his life in Albuquerque, N.M. He served as a radioman in the U.S. submarine service and later attended the University of New Mexico. Survivors include: two daughters and a son, Terry Huntingford and husband Ross, Diane M. Schuetz and Steve Smith and son Ahmus Kristoff; a sister, Mary Menefro and husband Joseph; and grandchildren, Katelyn and Eric Ross Huntingford.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Madonna and Elwin J. Schuetz; and his brother, William "Bill" Schuetz.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Cemetery in Newton.

Memorial service will be 5:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton.

Petersen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
