Thomas L. Greenwell
Thomas L. Greenwell, 71,
railroad worker, died Thursday (Aug. 31, 2006) at Newton Medical Center. He
married Glenda Stephens Aug. 17, 1970, in Newton. She survives. He was employed
as a switchman and brakeman for the Santa Fe Railroad. He enjoyed fishing,
making fishing lures, repairing fishing poles and taking his grandson fishing. He
enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching the history and nature
channels and war movies. He collected stamps and loved crossword puzzles. He
served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the
American Legion.
He also is survived by a son,
Richard Stephens of Newton; two daughters, Leslee Kirkendall of Oregon City,
Ore. and Sandra Tozier of Newton; a brother, Louis Greenwell of Pasadena, Md.;
and three grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by
his father, Richard Greenwell and mother, Elizabeth (Schipherling) Greenwell.
Visitation will be from 1 to
5 p.m. Sunday and from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
There will be a graveside
service at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Restlawn Gardens of Memory with Peter Hartman
officiating. A memorial with the Harvey County Parks has been established in
care of the funeral home.
