Colleen Johnson Novinger

HESSTON - Colleen Johnson Novinger was born May 18, 1923, in Eureka to W. D. and Jessie Mosher. She moved to Liberal at the age of six and went through Liberal schools. She married Harry W. Johnson in 1944. They had two children, Judith A. Mason of Livingston, Texas, and David L. Johnson of Hesston. She had three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Johnson died in 1979. Colleen was active in community theater and the Chamber of Commerce. She later married Ray Novinger in 1980 in Liberal. They moved to Ephrata, Wash., in 1986. Mr. Novinger died in 1995. She was preceded in death by her parents and her two sisters, Louise Jones of Liberal and Doris Wheat of Tulsa, Okla. Colleen moved to Hickory Homes in Hesston Kansas in 2004 and to Schowalter Villa in August of this year. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Schowalter Villa.
