Harriet Rutschman
Harriet Rutschman, 82,
retired Mennonite Mission worker and teacher from North Newton, died Thursday
(Sept. 7, 2006) after a long illness with multiple system atrophy. She will be
greatly missed by her husband of 60 years, Laverne Rutschman, their children
and spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their children and spouses
are David Rutschman and Marj Byler, Robert Rutschman and Elise Renault, Tom and
Disa Rutschman, Richard Rutschman and Peg Dublin, Ruth Rutschman Holliday and
Robert Holliday. Their grandchildren are David and Mark Rutschman-Byler; Alyssa
and Scott Hardy; Joel and Margareta Rutschman; Magali, Daniel, Miriam,
Elisabeth, Hanna, Jesse, Elijah and Micah Rutschman; Luke and Louisa Bigelow;
Heather and Joel Tower; and Heidi and Cari Holliday. Their great-grandchildren
are Mark and Christopher Kennamer, Arthur Hardy, and Samuel and Jonathan Tower.
She was preceded in death by
her parents, Carl Fischbach and Luella Dupre Fischbach; her sister, Mary Lou
Klingler; her brother, John Fischbach; and a granddaughter, Christy Rutschman.
The family will receive
friends at a visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen's Funeral Home in
Newton. A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Swiss Mennonite
Church Cemetery near Whitewater, followed by a memorial service at 5:30 p.m. at
Shalom Mennonite Church in Newton.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may
be made to the Mennonite Mission Network, Shalom Mennonite Church or Harry
Hynes Memorial Hospice.
