Ivan R. Diller
Ivan R. Diller, 87, passed away Sunday (July 18, 2010) at home in Hesston, surrounded by his family.

He was born on Jan. 23, 1923, in Hesston to Jacob R. and Grace (Cooprider) Diller.

Ivan was a lifelong resident of Hesston and graduated from Hesston Academy.

He married Doris Jantz on March 16, 1947, at Greensburg Mennonite Church in Greensburg.

He worked in construction with his father before becoming owner and manager of Diller Construction. The business was turned over to Preferred Builders in 1989, and Ivan continued doing finish work on a part-time basis.

A member of Hesston Mennonite Church, Ivan was involved as a volunteer with Mennonite Disaster Service from the organization's beginning. He also volunteered with the Hesston Fire Department for many years.

He enjoyed singing and sang with Mennonite Men's Chorus and various quartets for decades.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris; children, Althea (Ron) Harvey of Front Royal, Va., Stephen (Janelle) Diller of Colorado Springs, Co., Betty Jo (Barth) Hague of Newton, and Jeanie (Greg) Martin of Elkhart, Ind.; grandchildren, Stephanie (Brendan) Danker of Harrisonburg, Va., Ashley (Ryan) Troyer of Phoenix, Ariz., Jesse Diller of San Francisco, Dusty Diller of New York, Zach Hague of Bloomington, Ind., C.J. Hague of Anchorage, Alaska, Tom (Megan) Martin of Goshen, Ind., and Katie (Jon) Yoder of Goshen; great-grandchildren Caleb and Jordan Troyer of Phoenix; siblings, Robert (Marcella) Diller and Eugene (Donna) Diller of Hesston.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, John (Emily) Diller, Allen (Pauline) Diller and Lois (Glen) Hershberger.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the community room at Hesston Mennonite Church.

Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Eastlawn Cemetery.

A celebration of life will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Hesston Mennonite Church.

Memorials may be made to the Diller Scholarship at Hesston College, Mennonite Disaster Service or to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, 107 S. Lancaster, Hesston KS 67062.
