Victor Charles Peters
Victor Charles Peters, 80, died Tuesday
(Dec. 6, 2005) at home at Kidron Bethel in North Newton. He was born
March 27, 1925, to John H. and Emma F. (Froese) Peters on a farm in
Buhler, the oldest of three children. His parents preceded him in
death. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received an
honorable discharge. He was baptized June 9, 1946, in the Bethel
College Church and was a current member of First Mennonite Church in
Newton. He married Velora P. Kaufman June 20, 1946. She survives. He
retired from the Boeing Company as a toolmaker March 31, 1987, with
31 years of service. He enjoyed working with wood and built many
pieces of furniture for his family. His most recent hobby was
engraving cake pans, which he did until his recent illness.
Other survivors are his sister,
Leatrice Schroeder and husband Milo of Buhler; brother, Lawrence
Peters and wife Nancy of Hutchinson; daughter, Victoria Hill and
husband Gary of Newton; son, Mike Peters and wife Sheila McKinnon of
Lake Stevens, Wash.; son, Charles Peters and wife Judith of Park
City; daughter, Denise Russell and husband Steve Boone of San
Antonio; daughter, Penny Gibbons and husband Matt of Lyford Cay,
Bahamas; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m.
Saturday at First Mennonite Church, 429 E. First in Newton. Memorials
have been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and First
Mennonite Church in care of Peterson Funeral Home in Newton.
