Robert Grob
HESSTON - Robert Grob, 55,
died Thursday (Sept. 21, 2006) at his residence in Hesston. He was born Aug. 9,
1951, to Carl Robert and Mary Evaline (Jantz) Grob in Newton. He was an avid
reader and enjoyed science fiction. He attended Newton High School and
graduated in 1969. He played tuba, was a member of the choral group and acted
in several high school plays while in high school. He attended Central College
in McPherson, where he graduated with an Associate of Arts. and then attended
Greenville College in Greenville, Ill., where he graduated with a Bachelor of
Arts in philosophy, religion and psychology. He attended Asbury Theological
Seminary in Wilmore, Ky. Bob loved missions work and served in Steubenville,
Ohio, where he was involved with a street ministry.
Bob was the Free Methodist
minister in Junction City and Frankfort. He also worked as a job crisis hotline
counselor for a statewide hotline.
Over the years, his health
continued to decline, and he was forced to live in nursing homes. While at
those nursing homes, he ministered to residents through the sharing of music
and the Bible. He was medically disabled. He had a heart for Christ and shared
this love through music, poetry and Internet ministry.
Survivors include: a brother,
Carl Edward Grob and wife Debbie of Newton; a sister, Katherine DelVecchio and
husband John of Peabody; four nieces; and five nephews.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. Tuesday, with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at
Petersen Funeral Home.
Service will be at 11 a.m.
Wednesday at Fellowship of Kingdom Life Ministries, with Pastor Scott Mitter
officiating. There will be a private family committal prior to the service in
Eastlawn Cemetery.
Memorials have been
established with Kingdom of Life Ministries - Nepal Missions in care of the
funeral home.
