Adolf D. Schmidt
Adolf D. Schmidt, 88, died Saturday
(Sept. 28, 20002) at his residence in Newton. He was born Feb. 8,
1914, to Peter L. and Agnes (Duerksen) Schmidt in Goessel. They
preceded him in death. He married Ruth Schmidt Aug. 28, 1938, in
Hillsboro. She preceded him in death June 21, 1985. He married Ruth
Ann Schmidt Aug. 15, 1990, in Goessel. She survives of the home. He
was a member of First Mennonite Church in Burns. He was the last
living founding member of the Burns First Mennonite Church. He
attended Green Valley Grade School. He farmed for many years on a
farm in the Florence-, Burns-, Peabody-area, moving to Newton in
1995. He enjoyed gardening in his retirement years and taking bus
tours of the United States. He spent much time at the senior center
making many friends. Church was a very important part of his life, as
well as spending time with family.
Other survivors include: a daughter,
Carol Kay Beaushaw of Newton; three grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by: a
brother, Eddie Schmidt; and two sisters, Ella Kater and Clara
Schroeder.
Visitation will be from 9 a. m. To 9 p.
m. Tuesday with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p. m. at
Petersen Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be from 9 a. m. to
noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be 2:30 p. m.
Wednesday at Burns First Mennonite Church with Pastor Kevin Goertzen
of Goessel Mennonite Church officiating.
Burial will be in Burns First Mennonite
Church .
Memorials have been established with
Burns First Mennonite Church and Hospice Care of Kansas, both in care
of the funeral home.
