Randall R. Gering

WALTON - Randall R. Gering, 61, of Walton died Sunday (Nov. 5, 2006) at Newton Medical Center.

He was born March 11, 1945, in Freeman, S.D., to Vernon and Irene (Graber) Gering. He was a member of the Eastside United Methodist Church in Newton. He earned his master's degree in social work from The University of Kansas and was a program technician for a drug and alcohol treatment facility. Randall looked forward to spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed building and displaying model cars.

Survivors include: his father, Vernon Gering of Freeman, S.D.; brothers, Don and Sue Gering of Hesston, and Charles and Cheryle Gering of Freeman; sisters, Nancy and Dennis Halvorson of Irene, S.D., and Crystal and Steve Nelson of Irene, S.D.; two nieces; and five nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Eastside United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John J. Goering of the church officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

Memorials have been established with Eastside United Methodist Church in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
