Gene Weaver

HESSTON - Gene Weaver, 81, died Sunday (Nov. 26, 2006) at Newton Medical Center.

He was born June 16, 1925, in Newton to Albert H. and Ruth Margaret (Grove) Weaver.

He was a farmer and school bus driver.

On May 14, 1949, he married Ruby (Zook) Weaver in Hutchinson. She preceded him in death in December 2005.

He was a member of Whitestone Mennonite Church.

Survivors include: sons, Robert and Phyllis Weaver of Hesston, Galen and Dixie Weaver of Amarillo, Texas, and Greg and Deb Weaver of Kingman; daughter, Marcia and Chago Mendez of Hesston; brothers, Don G. and Barbara Weaver of Washington, D.C.; and sister, Wandalee and Chosei Kabira of Tokyo, Japan; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brother Albert Weaver Jr.

Memorial service will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Whitestone Mennonite Church in Hesston with Pastors Mark and Wendy Miller officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Eastlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with family present from 5 to 8 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Hesston.
