John F. 'Mac' McKelvey
John F. "Mac" McKelvey, 87,
hostler assistant with the Santa Fe railroad and veteran of the Army
Air Corp, died Tuesday (Oct. 10, 2000) at Newton Medical Center. He
was born July 2, 1913, to John Milton and Madge (McCallon) McKelvey
in Benton, Mo. They preceded him in death. He married Helen (Pickett)
McKelvey July 25, 1943, in Newton. She survives. He served with the
Army Air Corp from 1939 to 1945. He later worked for the Santa Fe
Railroad as a hostler assistant until retiring in 1977. He enjoying
reading.
Other survivors include: two daughters,
Barbara Spillane of Newton and Vickie Reierson of Littleton Colo.;
four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by two
sisters, Mildred Hart and Vera Logan.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p. m.
today and from 10 a. m to 9 p. m. Thursday at Broadway Colonial
Funeral Home in Newton.
Funeral services will be at 10 a. m.
Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Louise
McClanahan officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with
the Center for Basic Cancer Research in care of the funeral home.
